Basmah is looking down at tomato plant amidst vines

Hi, I’m BASMAH AHMED.

Maybe this is your first time starting therapy, or maybe you’re returning to this work. Wherever you are on your journey I look forward to meeting you there.

I came to my approach in therapy through my time in nature. I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University with a minor in Sustainability. In addition to my therapeutic work, I have spent years working in community gardens and enjoy facilitating workshops outside. It is my belief that we all have the internal resources within us to move through whatever obstacles are in front of us. My role in working with you is to support you in cultivating those resources through breaking through soil ,planting new seeds, and strengthening your roots.

My Approach

I aim to work with you, where you are in the present moment. My approach aims to be Anti-Oppressive, and Trauma informed and is LGBTQ+ affirming. I don’t believe that we can solve all of our problems internally, and I aim to identify the ways that the larger systems we live in such as capitalism and colonialism impact mental health. I will pull from several therapeutic approaches to provide psychotherapy that is tailored to you and your needs.
